Ikpeme Hails Adamu’s Confirmation as CAF General Secretary

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has congratulated Samson Adamu on his confirmation as substantive General Secretary of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), describing the appointment as a proud moment for Nigerian football.
NFF Acting General Secretary Emmanuel Ikpeme said Adamu’s appointment was well deserved, expressing confidence that he would make Nigeria and Africa proud in the role.
‘This is, indeed, very good news. I am so happy for Samson Adamu on his confirmation and I know he is going to make Nigeria and Africa proud,’ Ikpeme said.
‘He is a highly-knowledgeable individual who has never stopped improving himself, and he is well-rounded in the business of football administration.’
Ikpeme added that the NFF would support Adamu in his new position.
‘The NFF is delighted and very pleased with this appointment, and we will give him all the necessary support as a Member Association under CAF. We wish him tremendous success in the job,’ he said.
Adamu, who joined CAF as Director of Competitions, subsequently served as Director of Tournaments and Events before being appointed acting general secretary on March 29, following the resignation of Veron Mosengo-Omba.
His confirmation makes him the first Nigerian to serve as CAF’s substantive General Secretary in the organisation’s 70-year history.
The appointment places Adamu at the centre of the administration of African football, overseeing key operational responsibilities at the continent’s governing body.
