KRC Genk monitoring Onuachu situation at Southampton

Nigerian linked with German Bundesliga and Turkish sides

Belgium newsoulet, Het Nieuwsblad says Genk are monitoring the situation of their former striker Paul Onuachu.

The 29 year old Nigerian international joined the Saints in January on deadline day, yet he struggled to replicate the form he had shown in Belgium where he scored 16 goals in 19 appearances in the first half of the season.

At Southampton where he spent the second half of the 2022/23 season, he neither scored nor provided an assist in 11 games.

He started just four of the 11 games he featured in, subbed on in seven and was an unused substitute in four others.

Between 2019 and January 2023, Onuachu scored an incredible 85 goals in 134 games and currently holds the record for the most goals in a single Pro League season with 33.

His career in Europe began with Midtjylland in 2012. During his first three years at the Danish side he only played 26 games and scored once.

Following five goals in 13 games on loan at Velje Boldklub, he returned to his parent club and his goalscoring record improved drastically. In 149 games he scored 65 goals and was bought by Genk.

In terms of outgoings, one player who is against moving to the Premier League is Mike Tresor. He is apparently not willing to join Crystal Palace.
