Leicester City join race for Joe Aribo

Leicester have joined the race to sign Joe Aribo, according to a report.

The midfielder has been in sensational form for Rangers this season and has 18 months left on his contract, and it’s suggested he wants to test himself at a higher level.

He’ll hope to get there after winning a second Premiership title and is also set to head off to the African Cup of Nations where he could impress further admirers.

And Leicester are set to battle with Aston Villa for the highly-rated playmaker and could even make a move in January.

Aribo’s international team-mate Wilfried Ndidi also plays for Leicester and that could help make a move easier if he does decide to head south of the border.

Rangers will look for a hefty fee for the 25-year-old, who has been in inspired form for the club this season and developed into a key player under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

He’s grabbed six goals so far this season and Van Bronckhorst will be desperate to keep him at the club in January to ensure their title battle doesn’t falter.

He’s already likely to have to do without him for a short period with Aribo joining the Nigeria squad for the AFCON, along with Ibrox team-mate Leon Balogun.
