Lookman Praises Akor Adams’ Transformative Role in Super Eagles Attack

Ademola Lookman has hailed the impact of Akor Adams on Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign, describing the Sevilla striker as a crucial addition to the Super Eagles’ attack.

While previous coaches often struggled to harness the full potential of Nigeria’s wealth of attacking talent, Adams’ arrival has unlocked new dimensions in the frontline, helping Victor Osimhen and Lookman himself flourish with six goals between them so far.

‘Akor’s a very, very strong player,’ Lookman told ESPN. ‘He brings different qualities to the other attackers. His game understanding is there, sometimes he drops, sometimes he plays.

‘He’s not just a number nine, but he pins defenders back, holds the ball up, and adds different elements to his game. As long as he continues to perform like that, he will keep growing and getting better.’

Adams, who only made his Nigeria debut two months before the tournament, has quickly risen from relative obscurity to become a key figure in the squad.

In the quarterfinal-clinching victory over Mozambique, he scored his first AFCON goal and provided assists for Nigeria’s opening two strikes, underlining his importance beyond just finding the net.

His earlier performances against Tanzania and Tunisia had already impressed, showcasing his ability to combine strength, intelligence, and creativity in attack.

As Nigeria pushes toward continental glory, Adams’ emergence has given the Super Eagles a new edge, proving that his contribution is about far more than goals, it’s about elevating the entire team’s attacking rhythm.
