Napoli deny Bayern Munich bid for Osimhen

Napoli director of sport Cristiano Giuntoli has denied a report that Bayern Munich made an offer for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen.

Giuntoli spoke to fans and media at the club’s Dimaro pre-season training camp on Monday evening.

A report had emerged on Sunday, claiming that the Bundesliga champions made an enquiry to sign Osimhen, as they were looking for a replacement for Barcelona-bound Robert Lewandowski.

According to Il Mattino, the German club approached the Serie A side over a potential deal for the young Nigeria international, whom the Italian club has valued in excess of €100million.

However, the Italian publication claimed that Bayern were not willing to pay that much for Osimhen, as the Julian Nagelsmann’s side also have their eyes fixed on a deal for Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt, after securing Sadio Mane from Liverpool and also tying Serge Gnabry down to a long term deal.

Speaking on the report, the Napoli director insisted that the club did not receive any offer from the German club for their prized asset.

“We have not received any offers from Bayern, so I cannot comment on that,” Giuntoli said.
