Nasarawa United Eye President Federation’s Cup Final Spot Against Ikorodu City
Coach Mbwas and Captain Osanga Confident
With the Men’s President Federation’s Cup semi-finals set for Wednesday, Nasarawa United have wrapped up their preparations and declared themselves ready for a decisive clash against Ikorodu City of Lagos at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, Edo State. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m., with the winner advancing to this year’s final.
The Solid Miners are determined to end their long wait for a Federation Cup title, having narrowly missed out in 2016 against FC Ifeanyi Ubah and again in 2021 against Bayelsa United.
Head coach Mangut Mbwas, speaking after the team’s final training session, praised his players’ resilience and focus following their quarter-final victory over Plateau United in Abuja.
‘This will be a very difficult game. Ikorodu City are young, mobile, and compact. At this stage, no team is a pushover. But we are determined to work harder, minimize mistakes, and take our chances. We want to make our supporters proud,’ Mbwas said.
The coach confirmed that the squad is largely injury-free, with only Jofrank Istifanus sidelined by a groin issue.
Team captain King Osanga, a former FIFA U-17 World Cup winner, echoed the coach’s confidence, stressing unity and determination.
‘Semi-finals don’t come around every season. We respect our opponents, but we are hungry and united. We’ve come close twice before, but this time we want to go all the way. One more step, and we are in the final,’ Osanga declared.
With all key players available, Nasarawa United see Wednesday’s clash as a golden opportunity to end their trophy drought and join the elite list of Federation Cup winners.
