NBBF Sets October 15 Election in Motion, Names Electoral Committees

The Nigeria Basketball Federation has formally set the wheels in motion for its 2026 elective congress with the constitution of Electoral and Appeals Committees.

The decision was one of the key resolutions reached at the NBBF Extraordinary Congress held at the City Green Hotel in Yola, Adamawa State, on September 25.

With 39 delegates in attendance, the Congress unanimously approved the establishment of the two committees to oversee the electoral process ahead of the October 15, 2026 elections.

The Electoral Committee will be responsible for screening candidates, publishing the list of eligible voters, conducting the elections and declaring the results in accordance with the NBBF Statutes and FIBA guidelines.

The Appeals Committee will handle petitions and appeals arising from the electoral process.

NBBF President Ahmadu Musa Kida assured delegates that the federation’s Secretariat would publish the names of the committee members, election guidelines and timetable in the coming days.

He said the measures were aimed at ensuring a free, fair and credible election.

Kida also thanked the Adamawa State Government and people for hosting the Extraordinary Congress.
