Becomes youngest player ever to feature in the competition

Ethan Nwaneri made history on Sunday as the first player under the age of 16 in Premier League and indeed English top flight history to feature in a Premier League game.

Arsenal midfielder, at just 15 years and 181 surpasses Harvey Elliott (16 years, 30days) as the competition’s youngest ever player.

The 15 year was brought in by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to replace Fabio Vieira in the Gunners’ 3-0 demolition of Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford.

Former Nigeria international forward, Efan Ekoku now a Premier League pundit is delighted with the introduction of his’fellow’ countryman to top flight football in England.

“If you’re good enough, you’re old enough. It’s a magical moment for Ethan Nwaneri and his family,” says Ekoku who scored 52 times in 160 Premier League appearances.

The day did not belong to Nwaneri alone as another ‘Nigerian’, Bukayo Saka also made a history of sort for the Gunners.

Saka provided the assist for Arsenal’s first and third goal and has now been directly involved in 36 Premier League goals for Arsenal (18 goals, 18 assists) to become the second-most of any player while aged 21 or younger for the club in the competition, overtaking Nicolas Anelka (35) and behind only Cesc Fàbregas (63)
