Omanyala takes bid for first Diamond League win to Paris

Reigning Commonwealth Games 100 king and African record holder, Ferdinand Omanyala will be seeking for his first Diamond League win on his fourth attempt
when he files out for the 100m race at the Meeting Du Paris on Friday.

The 27 year old made his debut in the World Athletics elite one day meeting in September 2021, finishing fourth in 10.02 at the Allianz Memorial Van Damme in
Brussels, Belgium.

Since then, Omanyala has improved to third (in Rabat) and second (Florence) respectively this year.

Will it be the gold, as it were, in Paris especially with the expected absence of reigning World champion, Fred Kerley and South Africa’s Akani Simbine, the
two men who have beaten the Kenyan so far this year in the Diamond League circuit.

Omanyala is the world leader in the event so far this year with his 9.84 finish last month at the Kip Keino Classics in Nairobi but will still need to run
almost as fast to surmount the fresh obstacles reigning World 200m champion, Noah Lyle and reigning Olympic 100m champion, Marcel Jacobs will pose in Paris.
