Onojuvwevwo runs 51.32 lifetime best, Nse Uko races to new personal season’s best

Ella Onojuvwevwo has moved to number 16 in the Nigerian 400m all-time list after storming to a 51.32 finish to place second in heat three of the women’s 400m
invite Saturday afternoon at the Tom Jones Invitational event in Florida.

The 19 year old has now moved eight places up to supplantAjoke Odumosu as the 16th fastest Nigerian ever in the event.

Also at the same meet, 2021 World U20 champion, Imaobong Nse Uko ran 55.13, a new peronal season’s best to finish seventh in the second of five 400m heats.

Nse Uko has failed to live up to expectations as the acclaimed successor to Falilat Ogunkoya after she ran 51.55 to win the world title in 2021 at just 17
years old.

She was seen as one to watch after running 52.67 indoors in February.

Meanwhile, Auburn University’s Opeyemi Oke won in other 400m category, running 53.74, her second fastest time over the distance so far this year after running 53.70 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama a week ago.
