Onwuzurike runs 20.61 to come third at USATF Bermuda Grand Prix 2024
Udodi Onwuzurike ran 20.61 in his second race of the year to come third at the USATF Bermuda Grand Prix 2024 in Bermuda, a British Overseas Territory in the North Atlantic Ocean behind Jerem Richards (20.29) and Matthew Boling (20.42).
The Nigerian had opened his 2024 season with a stunning 20.13 run over the 200m distance in Clermont, Florida penultimate weekend to book his place at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The 21 year old remains the fastest Nigerian so far this outdoor season in the half lap event ahead of Consider Emmanuel (20.43) and Godson Oke Oghenebrume who ran 20.63 last month in Florida.
Onwuzurike stormed to a lifetime best of 19.76, the second fastest time ever by a Nigerian in the event, on his way to winning the gold medal at the NCAA Division 1 Championship in Austin, Texas, the same venue where Olopade Adeniken (20.11 in 1992) and Divine Oduduru (19.73 in 2019) also won the 200m gold.
He missed the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary due to injury and has not competed in the European and American circuit until last week.
