Onuachu backs Trabzonspor ahead of crunch Fenerbahçe clash

Paul Onuachu, the joint-top scorer in the Turkish Süper Lig, is bracing himself for a stern test as Trabzonspor prepare to host Fenerbahçe this weekend.
The Nigerian striker has been in scintillating form, scoring twice in last week’s 3-0 win over Samsunspor to reach 15 goals in 21 league appearances this season. His brace also made him the first foreign Trabzonspor player to score in both league meetings against Samsunspor in a single campaign, according to Opta Can.
Onuachu’s goals have been pivotal in keeping Trabzonspor in the title race, with the club currently sitting third in the table.
Victory at Papara Park on Saturday would move them within a single point of their Istanbul rivals. The striker acknowledges the scale of the challenge but insists his side’s momentum and home support could prove decisive.
‘It is going to be a tough game. Fenerbahçe are a good team, with a strong squad, but they are coming to Trabzon,’ Onuachu said. ‘I believe in the team, I believe in the staff, and I believe in our fans. It will be tough, but we wait to see on Saturday.’
Trabzonspor have not lost a league match since December, and Onuachu is confident that resilience will carry them into one of their biggest fixtures of the season.
