Oshoala makes history, scores in nine straight games for Barcelona

Assisat Oshoala made history Sunday as the first Barcelona player since the 2017/18 season to score in nine straight games.

Super Falcons forward netted the opening goal for Barcelona Femeni in their 5-0 demolition of Villarreal female team in their Spanish Iberdrola clash at the Estadio Johan Cruyff on Sunday afternoon.

The Nigerian has now scored in each of his last nine appearances in Primera División (16 goals) to become the second FC Barcelona player to do it since, at least, 2017/18 after Jenni Hermoso (11 matches in a row in 2019).

Oshoala opened scoring for the homers on 21 minutes.

The 28-year-old has now scored 19 goals in 19 league appearances for the title holders this season.

Oshoala is currently the leading scorer in the league having scored one more goal than Levante’s Alba Redondo.

She was the joint top scorer in the Spanish Iberdrola last season with 19 goals.

Barcelona remain unbeaten in the league this season after 20 games.
