Osimhen aiming to hit double figures in the league for the seventh season in a row

Victor Osimhen will be looking to score his 10th league goal for Galatasaray who host Goztepe in a Turkish Super Lig matchday 17 game at the Rams Park in Istanbul on Saturday.

The Nigerian, who joined the Yellow and Red on loan from Italian Serie A side, Napoli last September has scored nine times in the Super Lig in 12 appearances so far this season and a goal on Saturday will take him to double figures for the seventh straight season since his misadventure to the Bundesliga in the 2017/18 season when he featured in 13 games (12 in Bundesliga) without scoring.

The 26-year-old however changed the story from the 2018/19 season when he netted 12 times in 25 Belgian Jupiler Pro League games for Charleroi.

He switched club and moved to Lille in the French Ligue 1 where he scored 13 times in 27 games in the league in the 2019/20 season before leaving France for Italy where he netted 10 goals in 24 games in his first season in the Serie A.

In the 2021/22 season, Osimhen netted 14 goals in 27 Serie A games before hitting the back of the net 26 times in 32 appearances in the 2022/23 season when he inspired Napoli to their first Scudetto in 33 years.

That season, the Nigerian made history as the first African to top score in a Serie A season.

Last term, a combination of factors including participation in the Africa Cup of Nations and injuries ensured he did not score more than 15 goals in 25 Serie A appearances.

This season, Osimhen is on the verge of scoring at least 10 times in the league for the seventh straight season.

Overall, he has scored 12 goals in 15 games across all competitions for Galatasaray.
