Plot thickens to remove Kaduna House of Assembly Speaker, Liman as AFN board member

Five state athletics chairmen in the North West have began move to recall Honourable Yusuf Liman, the Speaker of Kaduna State House of Assembly as the member
representing the zone in the executive board of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria.

The five members are accusing Liman of making himself incommunicado since he was voted in as the North West representative in June 2021.

In the communique issued at the end of their meeting last month, it was resolved to write Liman to explain why he has not made himself available to his colleagues in the
zone.

‘Yes, we resolved to write Liman because he has not been living up to his duties as a zonal representative,’ said one of the attendees of the meeting who
preferred not to be named.

The communique reads inter-alia: ‘A letter should be written to Honourable Yusuf Liman, the Zonal Representative requesting him to explain why he doesn’t call
for zonal meeting, he doesn’t brief the zone what has been happening in the Board and doesn’t care to pick anybody’s call or call anybody.’

The member who attended revealed the  meeting was bankrolled by a top AFN official who wanted to set the North against each other and wants to start with the
removal of Liman before going again for Tafida Gadzama, the AFN First Vice President.

‘They want two illustrious sons of the North who always stand for justice and fair play removed so they can plant traitors who are ready to sell their
integrity and soul for money,’ added the member who sent a copy of the communique to our reporter.

The member also revealed that attempt to make the zone pass a vote of confidence on the leadership of the AFN failed but the five members who attended the meeting disassociated themselves from the report that the AFN congress may move against Tonobok Okowa, the president of the Federal.
