Rosenior: ‘I Feel Numb’ After Chelsea’s Worst Run in 114 Years
Vows Change After Fifth Straight Defeat Without a Goal
Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior admitted he was ‘hurting’ and ‘numb’ after watching his side slump to a fifth consecutive Premier League defeat without scoring, their worst run in 114 years.
The Blues were beaten 3-0 by Brighton, capping a miserable sequence that also includes losses to Newcastle (0-1), Everton (0-3), Manchester City (0-3), and Manchester United (0-1).
Speaking to Sky Sports, Rosenior described the performance as ‘unacceptable in every aspect of the game’ and said it was ‘the most difficult night of my career.’
He added: ‘To even be accused of throwing the towel in is unacceptable. I’m hurting. I feel numb because that doesn’t represent me or the football club in any way. It has to change, starting with the FA Cup this Sunday.’
Rosenior refused to blame injuries but acknowledged deeper issues within the squad’s mentality and structure.
‘Chelsea represents fight, spirit, determination, and that was lacking in every department this evening,’ he said.
The defeat leaves Chelsea in crisis, having now lost six of 13 league games under Rosenior, more than they did under Enzo Maresca (five in 19) earlier this season.
The manager vowed to pick a team for the FA Cup semi-final against Leeds that ‘represents the club in the correct manner.’
