Once you play first it’s up to the later teams to respond. Arsenal have with class, it’s now up to Liverpool on Sunday to do that against Manchester United,’ said Shearer.

Another Premier League pundit and former Arsenal player, Emmanuel Petit shared in Shearer’s sentiments.

“I’m very happy with that performance. They controlled the game from the first minute until the end. They were not nervous despite City putting pressure on them before the game. A clean sheet again, they showed composure and were very intelligent. They deserved totally to win that game.”

Matt Holland, another former Premier League player who netted 17 times in 202 games for Charlton Athletic and Ipswich Town concurs.

“I think it’s a high-quality display from the visitors, they had the pressure of Man City winning earlier in the day. They’ve been disciplined out of possession and been clinical when given the opportunity.”
