Super Eagles earn $120,000 bonus for four goals against Gabon

The Super Eagles have received a cash reward of $120,000 after their emphatic 4–1 victory over Gabon in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Africa Playoffs.

The payment came from a $30,000-per-goal incentive pledged by private sector partners and supporters of the team, which was redeemed and delivered directly to the players immediately after the match.

The National Sports Commission (NSC) confirmed the bonus, describing it as part of efforts to motivate the squad and reinforce accountability and athlete-centred governance under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Following the win, the NSC praised the team’s resilience, discipline, and purposeful execution, while urging Nigerians to continue rallying behind the Eagles as they prepare for their decisive clash against DR Congo on Sunday, November 16, 2025.

Victory in that fixture would secure Nigeria a place in the intercontinental playoffs and move them closer to the global stage.
