Super Eagles To Know 2022 FIFA World Cup Playoff Foe On Saturday
May draw Ghana, Egypt, Cameroun, Mali or DR Congo
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will know their 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff for on Saturday in Douala.
This followed the confirmation of the date for the draw by the Confederation of African Football, CAF, in a statement issued on Monday.
According to CAF, the 10 qualified teams will be divided into two pots based on the official FIFA ranking, published in November 2021.
The five highest ranked teams will play against the five least ranked teams (the first leg will be played at home of the lower ranked teams).
According to the ranking published on 19 November 2021 after the last round, the distribution of the teams on the two pots shall be as follows:
Pot 1: Senegal, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria and Nigeria
Pot 2: Egypt, Cameroon, Ghana, Mali and DR Congo
The Super Eagles can draw the Pharaohs of Egypt who they defeated in their opening game of the 33rd AFCON. The team can also draw Cameroun, Mali, DR Congo and bitter rivals Ghana.
