‘Victor is a very commanding and difficult to handle centre forward’

Bayer 04 Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes reveals why his club signed Boniface

Bayer 04 Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes says they were convinced of the Nigerian forward, Victor Boniface’s ability after ‘his performance against us absolutely confirmed our positive assessment.’

The 22-year-old striker has signed a contract with German Bundesliga outfit till 30 June 2028 and he will wear the number 22 shirt.

In last season’s Europa League campaign, Boniface scored two goals for Saint-Gilloise in the two quarter-final games against the Leverkusen.

“Victor Boniface has been on our radar for some time. His performance against us absolutely confirmed our positive assessment. Victor is a very commanding and difficult to handle centre forward who will be a challenge for every defender with his physicality.

‘In addition, he is also quick and has good technique. Over the long term, we now have a strong and versatile striker with potential in our ranks. He will help us improve the quality of our squad for the large number of games in the Bundesliga, DFB Cup and the Europa League,’said Rolfes to th club’s official website.
Former Union SG coach Karel Geraerts believes the German clubside has signed a real quality player.

‘He’s been playing at a very high level for months and has taken huge steps forward.’
