Vinicius Junior Double Sends Brazil Into Knockouts

Brazil powered into the Round of 32 at the FIFA World Cup 2026 with a commanding 3-0 victory over Scotland at Miami Stadium, sealing first place in Group C.

Vinicius Junior was the star of the night, scoring twice in the first half to put the five-time champions firmly in control.

His opener came in the seventh minute after a defensive error by Scott McKenna gifted him the ball, which he calmly slotted past Angus Gunn.

He added a second in stoppage time, heading in Bruno Guimaraes’ cross to become only the fifth Brazilian to score in all three group stage matches of a World Cup, joining legends Jairzinho, Romario, Ronaldo, and Rivaldo.

Brazil’s dominance continued after the break, with Matheus Cunha drilling home the third goal in the 60th minute following another Guimaraes assist.

Scotland battled for a consolation, but Alisson Becker denied Lewis Ferguson’s free-kick and twice thwarted Scott McTominay.

The victory means Brazil finish top of Group C with seven points, edging Morocco on goal difference. Scotland, meanwhile, remain third with three points and a negative goal difference, leaving their hopes of reaching the knockout stage for the first time still in jeopardy.

The match also saw Neymar Jr make a late substitute appearance, marking his fourth successive World Cup, much to the delight of the Brazilian fans in attendance.

Vinicius Junior was named the Player of the Match.
