‘We Will Try to Win, With Maximum Respect’: Scaloni Warns Spain Ahead of World Cup Final

Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni has praised Spain ahead of Sunday’s World Cup final but insists the defending champions will be determined to claim victory when the two sides meet.

Scaloni described Spain as a ‘great team’ and said the final would be a match football fans would enjoy.

The Argentina boss also revealed his personal connection with Spain coach Luis de la Fuente, who was one of his instructors during his coaching course.

‘I had a special relationship with him. Now we will meet in the final,’ Scaloni said. ‘I live in Spain and I have a Spanish family, but I’m sorry, on Sunday we will try to win. Of course, we will do this with maximum respect.’

Scaloni also urged Spanish supporters to appreciate Argentina’s presence in the final because of Lionel Messi’s long association with Spanish football.

‘Messi is the best in history. What more does he need to do to prove it?’ Scaloni said.
