Wenger: ‘I Deeply Believe Arsenal Will Win the Premier League’

Former Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger has reignited hope among Gunners fans by declaring his belief that the club will win the Premier League title this season, despite their recent setback against Manchester City.

Speaking at an Abbey Road Studios fundraiser for ProjectTwinning, Wenger insisted Arsenal still have the edge in the title race: ‘I believe that Arsenal will win the league. I deeply believe. It looks, to me, like common sense.’

Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat to City at the weekend left their title hopes hanging by a thread, with Pep Guardiola’s side poised to leapfrog them if they beat Burnley on Wednesday.

Man City are unbeaten in their last 19 meetings with Burnley, making the challenge even tougher for Arsenal, who face Newcastle United next.

Wenger, however, pointed to Arsenal’s attacking quality, praising Eberechi Eze, Martin Ødegaard, Kai Havertz, and Noni Madueke, while suggesting City will not produce a flawless run-in.

‘Manchester City will not make the perfect run-in,’ he said.

Burnley, winless in their last 12 home fixtures, last beat City in 2015 thanks to a George Boyd strike. With Arsenal chasing their first league crown in over two decades, Wenger’s words will be seen as a rallying cry at a critical stage of the campaign.
