World Rankings: Amusan’s Diamond League feat not enough to supplant Camacho-Quinn as top ranked sprint hurdler
Brume moves 29 places up in overall ranking,still fourth in long jump
Tobi Amusan’s historic 100m hurdles feat at the Diamond League final in Oregon, USA on Sunday was not enough to catapault the Nigerian back to the top of the event’s rankings following World Athletics’ update late on Tuesday night.
The Nigerian, ranked third in her event and 33rd in the overall women’s rankings before Sunday’s final could only move ahead of Kendra Harrison, the former world record holder who dropped to third while Olympic champion, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn who was second behind Amusan remains the top ranked high hurdler in the world.
The 26 year old also moved up five places in the overall women’s ranking from 33rd to 28th.
Meanwhile, Ese Brume is still ranked the fourth best long jumper in the world albeit the 27 year old lost winning the Diamond League title on countback.
The African record holder however moves 29 places up in the overal women’s rankings from 150th to 121st in the world.
In the men’s rankings, Shot Putter, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi remains the top ranked Nigerian. He is followed by sprinter, Udodi Onwuzurike and undecided ‘Nigerian’, Bamidele Emmanuel.
Enekwechi is ranked 199th in the world.
