Yılmaz thanks Osimhen after scoring first Galatasaray derby goal

Galatasaray’s emphatic 3-0 victory over Fenerbahçe in the Süper Lig was marked not only by goals from Victor Osimhen, Barış Alper Yılmaz and Lucas Torreira, but also by a moment of leadership that underscored the team’s unity.
After winning a penalty, Barış Alper Yılmaz revealed that he and Osimhen were both in line to take the spot-kick. The Nigerian striker, already a scorer in the derby, stepped aside and told his teammate to take it. Yılmaz converted, netting his first derby goal for Galatasaray.
Speaking to beIN SPORTS after the match, Yılmaz expressed his gratitude: ‘I asked Osimhen how do you feel, we both had names on the penalty, he said you score, I thank him.’
He added: ‘First of all, we are very happy. We are doing our best to reach our 4th championship. It’s not over yet. We will go to Samsun next week. I have not been a child who runs away from his responsibilities. I want to contribute to my team.’
The forward also underlined Galatasaray’s dominance in recent years: “We have been champions for three years in a row. If there are players like us in this league, we will always be champions.”
