Moses Simon: Eguavoen not new to us, he gives confidence to players

FC Nantes of France winger, Moses Simon says having Austin Eguavoen as interim coach of the team is a positive as most of the Super Eagles players know him very well.
Eguavoen has been in charge of the team mostly in interim capacity for more than two times and was in charge of the team at the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroun.
Simon, who is returning to the team after an injury that saw him miss most of the second part of his club’s 2023/24 season as well as Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying games against South Africa and Republic of Benin in June, believes the Super Eagles will start winning again to bring smiles back on the cheeks of Nigerians.
‘I miss the boys, the team,’ he said following his return to the squad.
‘The mood is a little bit up in Eagles camp and we are delighted to have coach Eguavoen with us. He already knows some of the players, he knows the role they will have to play. He gives confidence mostly to the players,’ said the winger.
The Ligue 1 star is confident Nigerians will start smiling again as they are determined to start winning for them.
‘We are focused on winning to bring back the smiles to the faces of Nigerians who have been disappointed with the team following our unimpressive runs in the 2026 FIFA World Cp qualifying campaign,’ he said.
