It’s official: Iheanacho ends 2024 calendar year without scoring a goal in the League
Kelechi Iheanacho watched for 90 minutes on the bench at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu where he did not even get the final chance to score his first league goal of the year.
The 28-year-old has not scored in the LaLiga since he joined Sevilla as a free agent in July and did not score in the Sky Bet Championship with Leicester City in 2024 before switching England for Spain where he has had little joy.
Iheanacho last scored a league goal in October 2023 when he fired in the third goal in the Foxes’ 3-1 win at Swansea City.
The Nigerian scored five times in 23 appearances for Leicester City in the Sky Bet Championship last term but the goals were scored between September and October.
In 2024, the Super Eagles forward featured 13 times in the League (four in the Sky Bet Championship and nine in the LaLiga) but neither scored nor provided an assist.
Iheanacho was also on the verge of ending 2024 without a goal for clubs and country until he featured in Sevilla’s two Copa Del Rey games in October and December, scoring thrice.
