Bundesliga: Boniface out of Bayer Leverkusen’s trip to Borussia Dortmund

Bayer Leverkusen coach, Xabi Alonso says striker Victor Boniface is out of Friday’s Borussia Dortmund clash as the Bundesliga resumes after the winter break.

Boniface has not played for the defending German champions since returning with a leg injury from international duty with Nigeria in November.

He suffered a small setback in his recovery and Alonso confirmed on Thursday that Boniface will be out for a few more games after missing the last five Bundesliga games before the winter break.

“He needs a bit more time. We need to be patient in order to get him back and at his best,” said Alonso who doubts the Nigerian’s availability for the next two Bundesliga games after the short trip to Dortmund.

Friday’s game would have been the Nigerian’s third against Dortmund who he has scored once again.
