Esther Joseph cracks Nigerian 300m indoor top 10 at Commodore Challenge

Esther Joseph delivered a standout performance at the Commodore Challenge in Nashville, Tennessee, on Saturday, breaking into the Nigerian women’s all‑time indoor 300m list.

The 2024 African Championships 400m bronze medalist clocked 37.01 seconds in the women’s 300m dash, setting a new school record and earning a place in Tennessee’s all‑time indoor top 10.

Her time also elevated her to third on Nigeria’s all‑time list, surpassing the legendary Falilat Ogunkoya (37.62) and trailing only African record holder Favour Ofili (35.99) and Charity Opara (36.53).

It was a weekend of records for Tennessee athletes. Sophomore Okwose needed just one race to etch her name into the program’s history, posting 7.21 seconds in the women’s 60m prelims.

Okwose’s run also propelled her into Nigeria’s all‑time rankings, slotting in at 17th, just behind sprint hurdles great Glory Alozie (7.20).
