Galatasaray Denies Salary Delay Claims for Osimhen

Galatasaray has officially responded to claims that star striker Victor Osimhen had not received his salary for two months.

The reports suggested that the Nigerian forward, who earns a net annual income of 21 million euros, was left unpaid.

However, Galatasaray Sportif A.Ş. Deputy President Abdullah Kavukcu dismissed the allegations, stressing that the club has no financial issues and that payments are made on schedule.

Speaking to columnist Levent Tüzemen of Sabah newspaper, Kavukcu explained that Galatasaray’s payment system is even ahead of European standards.

‘Payments to players in Europe are made at the end of three months. In our country, February receivables are paid in March. So, we are ahead of Europe. We also made a decision with the sensitivity of our president Dursun Özbek. We never accumulate the premiums of the games; we deposit them into their accounts immediately,’ he said.

Kavukcu further argued that the rumors were deliberately spread to destabilize the club.

‘They make these news on purpose. Their aim is to stir up Galatasaray and sow discord in us. It’s a big lie that no payment was made. We do not have any problems with payments. If there were such problems, could we have received the debt-free paper we gave to UEFA on January 15?’ he added.
