Onazi Slams Manchester United Over Osimhen Snub

Former Nigeria international Ogenyi Onazi has criticized Manchester United for failing to sign Victor Osimhen, despite being strongly linked with the Galatasaray striker.

Reports suggested the Red Devils pulled out of the deal because of Osimhen’s participation in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, but Onazi dismissed that reasoning.

Speaking to Footy‑Africa, Onazi insisted that the former Napoli forward is an elite striker who should be a priority for any top club.

‘Well, for me, I don’t think that’s an excuse for them not to sign Victor,’ he said. ‘If they know the importance and what he could be able to bring to the table for Manchester United, that shouldn’t be an excuse because there are other players who go to the African Nations Cup in Manchester United and other clubs too as well, that are very important like Mo Salah in Liverpool.’

Onazi’s comments underline the belief that Osimhen’s quality and impact outweigh any concerns about his international commitments, and that Manchester United missed a major opportunity by not securing his signature.
