No Evidence Found: Obasogie Cleared of Match-Fixing Allegations in Tanzania

Super Eagles reserve goalkeeper Amas Obasogie has been cleared of match-fixing allegations by his Tanzanian club, Singida Black Stars.

The club had announced on February 27 that Obasogie was suspended for three months pending an investigation into alleged involvement in match manipulation.

However, in a statement released on Saturday, Singida Black Stars confirmed that their probe found “no evidence of match-fixing or gambling” by the Nigerian shot-stopper.

According to the club, the incidents that initially raised suspicion were determined to be ‘technical errors within the game.’

As a result, Obasogie’s suspension has been reversed, and he has been reinstated to continue his duties with the team.

Obasogie, who joined Singida Black Stars in 2025 from Ethiopia’s Fasil Kenema, expressed regret over the circumstances that led to the allegations and promised to improve his performance to restore trust among fans and stakeholders.

The goalkeeper was part of Nigeria’s squad at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, serving as third-choice behind Stanley Nwabali and Francis Uzoho.
