Golden Boot Race: Unstoppable Onuachu Moves Four Clear of Shomurodov With 20th Goal

Paul Onuachu struck twice as Trabzonspor defeated Kayserispor 3-1 away from home, securing their third consecutive league victory and keeping the pressure on leaders Galatasaray.

The Nigerian forward opened the scoring in first-half stoppage time (45+2), rising highest to head home Pina’s cross from the right flank.

Just minutes later, in 45+7, he doubled his tally from the penalty spot after Benes was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the area. Onuachu calmly converted, giving Trabzonspor a commanding 2-0 lead at the break.

Zubkov added a third in the 53rd minute with a shot that ricocheted off the post and goalkeeper Bilal Bayazıt before crossing the line.

Kayserispor, who had been reduced to ten men early on after Dorukhan Toköz’s dismissal in the 8th minute, pulled one back through Onugkha in the 83rd minute, but it was too late to change the outcome.

Onuachu’s brace was his fourth of the 2025/26 season, taking his tally to 20 goals in 22 matches.

He now sits four goals clear of Eldor Shomurodov in the race for the Süper Lig Golden Boot, and an impressive nine goals ahead of last season’s top scorer Victor Osimhen, who finished with 26.

Trabzonspor’s victory lifts them to 54 points, seven behind Galatasaray, while Kayserispor remain in the relegation zone with 20 points.
