Marca: Mourinho is 99.9% Certain to Become Real Madrid Next Manager

José Mourinho is on the verge of returning to Real Madrid, with reports suggesting the Portuguese coach is now the sole contender to take charge of the team.

Barring an unexpected twist, Mourinho, according to Marca, is 99.9% certain to become Madrid’s next manager, replacing Álvaro Arbeloa and becoming the club’s fourth head coach in just one year, following Carlo Ancelotti, Xabi Alonso, and Arbeloa himself.

Until recently, Mourinho was competing with names such as Mauricio Pochettino and Didier Deschamps, but recent events, including tensions between Aurélien Tchouaméni and Federico Valverde, and Kylian Mbappé’s outburst against Arbeloa after Thursday’s match against Oviedo, have reinforced the case for Mourinho.

He is seen as the only figure capable of restoring order to Madrid’s volatile dressing room.

The club’s election process, triggered by Florentino Pérez’s explosive press conference earlier this week, will not interfere with Mourinho’s arrival.

According to Marca, Madrid’s bylaws ensure continuity during elections, meaning the appointment is expected to be finalized once the season ends on May 23.

Florentino Pérez himself indirectly endorsed Mourinho’s return during an interview with La Sexta, stating: ‘He was already here and raised our level.’

The president believes Mourinho’s previous tenure from 2010 to 2013 laid the foundations for Madrid’s subsequent dominance, which included four Champions League titles in five years between 2014 and 2018.
