Flick Hails Lamine Yamal As The Best Player In The World

Barcelona coach praises teenager’s attitude and exceptional performance after 5-2 victory over Real Betis

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has described Lamine Yamal as the best player in the world following the teenager’s outstanding performance in the Catalan club’s 5-2 victory over Real Betis on Saturday.

Yamal opened the scoring with an impressive goal as Barcelona produced a commanding display to secure another important victory in their La Liga campaign.

Speaking after the match, Flick was full of praise for the Spain international, highlighting his quality, attitude and influence on the team.

‘Lamine’s goal that opened the scoring is incredible; he is, for me right now, the best player in the world,’ Flick said at his post-match press conference. ‘I’m very happy with his performance. His attitude is incredible and when he’s at one hundred percent his output is exceptional.’

Flick also acknowledged the quality of the opposition, describing the contest as an intense encounter that would have appealed to football fans.

‘It was a very intense match, incredible for people who love football,’ he said.

The German coach was particularly pleased with Barcelona’s overall performance, insisting his players had earned the victory despite the challenge posed by Betis.

‘We saw a fantastic Betis, with very good intensity. We expected that and we also played at a high level. I think we deserved the win,’ Flick said.

He also highlighted the importance of Barcelona’s second goal, which came from a set-piece situation, as evidence of the work being done on the training ground.

‘I’m happy because the second goal was important and came from a dead-ball situation, which reflects the good work we do,’ he added.

Despite Barcelona’s impressive run, Flick cautioned against complacency, stressing that the season remained long and that his team must continue working hard.

‘This is very long, there is a lot of season left, but it has been incredible so far,’ he said, pointing to the quality of training and the positive atmosphere within the squad as important factors behind the team’s success.

Flick also insisted that Barcelona were focused on winning matches rather than chasing records, despite the significance of their latest result.

‘It’s nice, but we want to achieve big things. Our focus is on the details and on continuing to win; we don’t look at records, we look at getting to the end,’ he said.
