Ndidi Suffers Ankle Ligament Injury Ahead of Besiktas’ Europa League Qualifier

Besiktas have been dealt a major setback ahead of their UEFA Europa League qualifying clash against Danish side Midtjylland after captain Wilfred Ndidi sustained an ankle ligament injury.

The Turkish club confirmed on Monday that the Nigeria international suffered the injury and underwent an MRI scan at Acıbadem Altunizade Hospital, which revealed ligament damage to his ankle.

Besiktas disclosed that the Super Eagles midfielder has immediately commenced treatment under the supervision of the club’s medical team.

Ndidi’s injury comes as a significant blow to Besiktas, with the experienced midfielder expected to play a key role in the club’s bid to secure a place in the UEFA Europa League group stage.

The club has yet to provide a timeline for his recovery, leaving his availability for the crucial qualifier against Midtjylland in doubt.

The 29-year-old has been one of Besiktas’ influential performers since joining the Istanbul giants and serves as one of the team’s captains.

His fitness will now be closely monitored as the Black Eagles prepare for one of their biggest fixtures of the new season.
