Super Eagles Drop to Fourth in Africa, Remain 26th in World FIFA Rankings

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have dropped to fourth place in Africa but retained their 26th position in the world following the latest FIFA rankings released after the conclusion of the FIFA World Cup on Sunday.

Nigeria were overtaken by Egypt, who climbed five places to 24th in the world after reaching the last 16 of the tournament.

Morocco remain Africa’s highest-ranked nation, moving up one place to sixth in the world and edging closer to Nigeria’s African record of fifth, achieved in 1994.

Senegal remain Africa’s second-ranked team despite dropping three places to 18th in the world.

Spain, meanwhile, moved to the top of the global rankings following their World Cup triumph, replacing Argentina, who dropped to second.

France are third, while England and Brazil complete the world’s top five in fourth and fifth positions respectively.
