Adeleke and Alfred named co-most outstanding female performers at Texas Relays

Irish-Nigerian, Rhasidat Adeleke and Saint Lucia sprinter, Julien Alfred have been named co-most outstanding female performers at the 95th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.

The University of Texas duo dazzled the crowd in the finals two days of the competition as they featured prominently in the record-breaking feats and also helped in the Longhorns been named Texas Relays most outstanding women team.

Adeleke and Alfred played huge roles as the Texas women’s relays broke two of its three collegiate records on the final day of competition.

The women ran its second collegiate record of the weekend in the 4×200 relay where Alfred, Adeleke, Lanae-Tava Thomas and Kevona Davis ran a time of 1:28.05.

The previous collegiate record was ran by Oregon in 2017 with a time of 1:28.78.

The Longhorn women added their final collegiate record of the weekend in the Carlette Guidry 4×100 relay with a staggering time of 42.00. The time took down
LSU’s time of 42.05 set in 2018 after running 42.38 in the prelims.

Adeleke and Alfred were also on Friday night’s sprint medley relay team that also broke the collegiate record with Kennedy Simon and Valery Tobias with a
time of 3:36.10.

Texas recorded its fourth and final relays victory in the Sanya Richards-Ross 4×400 relay from Thomas, Simon, Alfred and Adeleke defeating NCAA indoor
champions Arkansas with a time of 3:23.27.

The time also ranks as the second-fastest time in Texas history after the team of Simon, Adeleke, Alfred and Stacey-Ann Williams broke the record last year at the relays with a time of 3:22.94.

Adeleke ran an incredible 49.47 split to anchor the Longhorn’s 4x400m team to victory, holding off NCAA indoor champion/US indoor record holder Britton Wilson.
