AFCON: Osimhen still ‘missing’ as Chukwueze, Nwabali arrive, 19 players now in Abu Dhabi camp
Victor Osimhen, who has been in Nigeria for nearly a week and celebrated the new year in Lagos is yet to arrive the Super Eagles’ Abu Dhabi training camp
ahead of the African Nations Cup which start January 13, 2024 in Cote D’Ivoire.
The Super Eagles camp opened on Tuesday with the trio of goakeeper Olorunleke Ojo, defender Kenneth Omeruo and captain Ahmed Musa the early arrivals with the
team’s technical crew led by Jose Peseiro and his backroom staff.
As many as 16 more players arrived on Wednesday with the duo of AC Milan’s Samuel Chukwueze and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali the latest arrive.
According to Babafemi Raji, the Super Eagles media officer, other players also in camp are Moses Simon, Alex Iwobi, Semi Ajayi, Ola Aina, Calvin Bassey,
Ademola Lookman, Joe Aribo, Frank Onyeka, Bruno Onyemaechi, Chidozie Awaziem, Zaidu sanusi, Victor Boniface, Raphael Onyediak, Samuel Osayi-Bright
Nigeria will begin her campaign for a fourth AFCON title win on January 14 against Equatorial Guinea at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan before facing the host, Cote D’Ivoire at the same arena four days later before facing Guinea-Bissau on January 22 at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium also in Abidjan.
