AFN reschedules Annual General Congress, picks December 14, 2024, as new date

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN, has rescheduled its Annual General Congress earlier billed to hold on Saturday November 30, 2024.

In the notice of postponement dated Friday November 29, 2024, sent to Congress Delegates via their WhatsApp platform and signed by the federation’s Secretary General, Rita Moshindi, a new date has been fixed for the important meeting of the federation’s highest decision-making body.

The Annual General Congress will now hold on Saturday December 14, 2024, in Asaba, capital of Delta state.

‘I have been directed by the President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, chief Tonobok Okowa to reschedule the Congress earlier slated for November 30th, 2024, to December 14th, 2024, in Asaba, Delta state.

‘This became necessary in order to resolve issues and unite the Board before the Congress, ensuring that all Congress members are present for the December 14th meeting.

‘Furthermore, the President has been scheduled to pay a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC),’ wrote the Secretary General in the notice of postponement.

The notice was issued less than 24 hours to the scheduled November 30th date for the meeting.

The meeting will be both physical and via zoom.
