Amusan out of Diamond League meeting in Zurich

Nigeria already through to event's final in Oregon

Tobi Amusan’s name has been removed from the list of top track and field stars confirmed for Thursday Weltklasse Diamond League meeting following the updated
list of athletes expected to run released Saturday by organisers.

The former World 100m hurdles champion’s name was on the list before the update and Sportsnow could not confirm why the Nigerian’s name was removed.

The 26 year old has won twice at the meeting after making her debut in 2021.

She broke Gloria Alozie’s 12.44 African at the Letzigrund stadium, venue of the meeting in 2021 after she sped to a 12.42 finish to make history as the first
Nigerian to win a Diamond League trophy.

Amusan successfully defended her ttile the following year, running a 12.29 meeting record.

The final has been moved to the Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, USA next month and the double Commonwealth Games champion has already confirmed her participation as joint top with Nia Ali in the 100m hurdles standing.

She will be seeking to become the second woman after Dawn Nelson-Harper to win the high hurdles three consecutive times.

Meanwhile, reigning world champion, Danielle Williams of Jamaica tops the list of four sprint hurdlers so far confirmed.

She is joined by reigning Olympic champion, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, 2019 world champion, Nia Ali, former world record holder, Kendra Harrison and home girl, Ditaji Kambundji.
