Manchester United’s 2-1 triumph over Brentford at Old Trafford not only strengthened their grip on a Champions League place but also highlighted the growing influence of Casemiro, whose performances continue to draw admiration from teammates.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Harry Maguire was effusive in his praise of the Brazilian midfielder.

‘His time in this league, his aggression, his technique, it’s the best I’ve seen and worked with. Really clinical, and he’s been a massive boost for us this season, because without his goals, we wouldn’t be nowhere on the table,’ Maguire said.

Maguire noted how Casemiro’s presence has shifted defensive attention away from himself, creating more opportunities for both players.

‘It frees us both up. Our record when we both play together, when I play, I think Casemiro gets more goals and when he plays I get more opportunities as well. It makes it a lot harder for the opposition.’

The United captain also reflected on the transformation under manager Michael Carrick, who has overseen a surge in form since taking charge.

‘We had two tough fixtures when Michael first came in, with Arsenal and Man City, and we managed to get six points. Everyone’s believed in it, and we’ve gathered together. The results speak for themselves. We defend our box a lot better, and we’re managing to be clinical in the other box.’
