De Laurentiis: Osimhen only a step away from penning a new Napoli deal

Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis says Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen will sign a new Napoli deal imminently.

The Napoli chief, accrding to Area Napoli, disclosed this in his speeech at the seventh edition of the “Campania Terra Felix” journalism prize in Napoli.

‘For Osimhen we’re at the signature (signing stage) that has been pending since the summer,’ revealed De Laurentiis, putting paid to speculations the 24 year old forward may quit Naples next month after he was linked, once again, with Chelsea.

The Nigerian striker was the star of the show in the Partenopei’s Scudetto success last term and he’s maintained that form this season, scoring six goals across nine Serie A matches. With less than two years left on his current contract, the club have been hard at work on a new deal.

Transfer expert, Gianluca Di Marzio also confirmed Osimhen’s contract extension deal will be signed very soon.

‘The current agreement is valid until 30 June 2025, in the summer there were several contacts and talks between De Laurentiis and Roberto Calenda, agent of the Nigerian footballer, to discuss the future”.

‘The two – De Laurentiis and Calenda – have also crossed paths in recent days. It happened in Madrid, during the match on Wednesday evening between Real Madrid and Napoli.

‘At this juncture, the Italian president made it clear verbally that he wanted to guarantee the conditions agreed in the summer. After the private words of Madrid and the public ones today, we will have to move on to the facts with the possible signing of the contracts,’ Di Marzio wrote on his official website.
