Flying Eagles Begin WAFU B U20 Title Defence Against Ghana
Nigeria’s U20 men’s national team, the Flying Eagles, will begin their defence of the WAFU B U20 Championship title against Ghana’s Black Satellites on July 27 in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.
The highly anticipated opening-day encounter will be played at the Lycée Scientifique de Yamoussoukro, with kick-off scheduled for 2pm local time, which is 3pm in Nigeria.
The fixture is a repeat of the 2024 WAFU B U20 final held in Lomé, Togo, where the Flying Eagles defeated the Black Satellites 2-1 to emerge champions.
The seven-time African champions will face Togo’s Junior Sparrow Hawks in their second Group B match on July 30, also at the Lycée Scientifique de Yamoussoukro. The game will equally kick off at 2pm local time, or 3pm Nigerian time.
The defending champions will conclude their group-stage campaign against Burkina Faso’s Young Stallions on August 2 at the same venue, with the match scheduled for a 2pm local time kick-off.
The Flying Eagles, led by coach Abdu Maikaba, are expected to depart Nigeria on Monday after weeks of intensive training and screening in Abuja as preparations for the continental youth competition enter their final stage.
