Iheanacho eyeing seventh goal in 10 games vs Aston Villa

Leicester City forward, Kelechi Iheanacho will be hoping to transfer his goalscoring form in the Cup games where he has netted twice in two games to the Premier League when he travels with his club to the Villa Park where they will face a resurgent Aston Villa in a matchweek 22 fixture on Saturday.

The Nigerian has scored just once from the three shots he has had on target so far this season in the Premier League and if he scores on Saturday, it will be his second of the season and his fourth shot on target.

Iheanacho’s three shots on target so far this term from the 12 shots puts him in fourth position among the Nigerian players currently playing in the Premier League and behind the trio of Joe Aribo and Taiwo Awoniyi who have had eight each from 13 and 19 shots fired respectively while Alex Iwobi who will be playing under a new manager at Everton has had five shots on target this term from his 18 shots.

Iheanacho is however third in the overall standing with 96 shots on target behind Yakubu Aiyegbeni (135) and Peter Osaze Odemwingie (97). A goal or shot on target on Saturday will make him go level with Odemwingie while two will mke him stand alone in second place.

A goal on Saturday will also be the 26 year old’s seventh in 10 appearances against Unai Emery’s side with just one of the goals coming in six Premier League games against Saturday’s opponent. The other five goals came in the Cup games viz three in one FA Cup game and two in two EFL (Carabao) Cup matches.

Iheanacho has featured 182 times in the Premier League since he made his debut in the competition in August 2015 and has scored 38 goals and bagged 21 assists. He has started just one of the 14 games he has featured in this season in the competition and last scored in the 5-2 defeat of the Foxes at Brighton last September.
