Little known Nigerian nets hat-trick in Gent's win, takes total goal haul to 12 in nine games

What Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Erling Haaland could not achieve, little known Nigerian, Gift Orban did at the Basaksehir Fatih Terim Stadyumu in in the Başakşehir district of Istanbul, Turkey Wednesday evening.

Orban hits a four-minute hat-trick in Gent’s 4-1 win at Turkish Super Lig side, Istanbul Basaksehir in their UEFA Conference League round of 16 tie at the Basaksehir Fatih Terim Stadyumu on Wednesday evening to make history as the first player to score the fastest hat-trick in men’s UEFA club competition history.

The Nigerian, 20, netted three times in 3 minutes and 24 seconds in the first half to set Gent on the way to a deserved victory and a place in the quarter-final of the competition.

Orban has now brought his total goal haul to five in four UEFA Conference League games after scoring once in Gent’s last two matches in the competition against Azerbaijan side, Qarabag FK and in the 1-1 draw against Istanbul Basaksehir in the first leg of the round of 16 game at the Ghelamco Arena in Gent, Belgium.

The former Stabæk Fotball of Norway forward netted four times last weekend in Gent’s 6-2 annihilation of Zulte Waregem at the Elindus Arena in Waregen to bring his total goal scored in the Jupiler Pro League to seven in five appearances.

The Nigerian has now netted 12 times in nine games for the club he joined in January this year.
