Ndidi market value drops for the fifth straight time, now ninth most valuable Eagle

Wilfred Ndidi may be playing very well for Leicester City in the Championship, the second tier of English football this term but the Nigerian’s indifferent 2022/23 season has caused his market value to drop to its lowest since 2018.

This season the ‘offensive midfielder’ has netted thrice (equalling personal season’s best goal record) and provided four assists (also equalling a personal season’s best).

Last season, the Super Eagle neither scored nor did he provide an assisst in 30 appearances for the Foxes in the Premier League.

He started 19 of 27 games in the English topflight and was subbed on in eight, just two more than he was in 165 games across five and a half seasons.

The Nigerian is now worth just €18m following the upgrade on the Championship market values by transfermarkt on Friday.

The 26 year old’s value dropped by €7m in four months, from the €25m he was worth in June.

Ndidi’s value has continued to drop since he attained his highest market value of €60m first in June 2021 to become the most valuable Nigerian player of all-time.

The 26 year old’s value first dropped to €50m in September 2022 before sliding further to €40m two months later, €32m in March 2023 and €25m in June.

The former RCK Genk of Belgium player’s €18m valuation is the lowest since 2018.

He is now ranked number 514 among all players worldwide, number 6 among all players of the Championship and number 3 among all players at Leicester City players behind Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (€30m) and Wout Faes (€20m).

He is also ranked number 9 among all players from Nigeria, behind Victor Osimhen (€120m), Victor Boniface (€40m), Ademola Lookman (€30m), Taiwo Awoniyi (€30m), Alex Iwobi (€28m), Terem Moffi (€25m), Samuel Chukwueze ((€25m) and Gift Orban (€20m); and number 53 among all players born 1996.
