NFF Hails Osimhen, Iheanacho, Babajide, Onyedika and Other Nigerian Champions in Europe
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has extended heartfelt congratulations to Nigerian footballers who have clinched league and cup titles across Europe this season.
President of the NFF, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, MON, praised the players for their quality, consistency, and contributions to their clubs’ successes, noting that their achievements bring pride to the nation and assurance of strong performances in future international competitions.
‘The NFF is very happy with the accomplishments of our players in their various clubs and leagues. It is a thing of joy to see them winning trophies here and there, as it presents assurance that they are in good form to deliver whenever any international match or tournament comes up.
‘We congratulate them warmly and wish them greater heights, while charging them not to rest on their oars but rather pursue even greater glory in their different stations,’ Gusau stated.
Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen played a pivotal role in Galatasaray’s Turkish Super Lig triumph, scoring crucial goals that secured the title with one matchday to spare.
Defender Zaidu Sanusi also celebrated silverware as FC Porto lifted the Taça de Portugal, joined by Terem Moffi who contributed after joining on loan from French side OGC Nice.
In Belgium, midfielder Raphael Onyedika helped Club Brugge to the Pro League crown, while Kelechi Iheanacho’s debut season in Scotland saw him inspire Celtic FC to a league and cup double.
Defender Igoh Ogbu added to the list of champions with Slavia Prague’s Czech First League victory, and goalkeeper Francis Uzoho celebrated Omonia Nicosia’s Cypriot First Division success.
Back in England, Oluwasemilogo Ajayi was jubilant as Hull City secured promotion to the Premier League by winning the Championship play-off final.
On the women’s side, Super Falcons midfielder Christy Ucheibe enjoyed a trophy-laden season with SL Benfica, winning the Taça de Portugal Feminina, Taça de Liga Feminina, and Super Taça de Portugal Feminina.
Defender Shukurat Oladipo was named best defender in Italy’s Serie A Femminile as AS Roma clinched the title, while forward Rinsola Babajide contributed two goals in nine league appearances to Roma’s victorious campaign.
The NFF emphasized that these triumphs highlight the growing influence of Nigerian players in European football and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting them as they continue to shine on the global stage.
