Nigeria 2-2 Poland: Super Eagles Extend Unbeaten Run to 12 After Warsaw Thriller
Nigeria’s Super Eagles extended their unbeaten run to 12 matches after a spirited 2-2 draw against Poland in an international friendly at the Stadion PGE Narodowy on Wednesday night.
Goals from Terem Moffi and Paul Onuachu ensured the African giants maintained their dominance over the White-Reds at senior international level.
Poland, eager to bounce back from a 0-2 defeat to Ukraine, started brightly in front of over 54,000 fans. Jakub Kaminski came close in the fourth minute, while Robert Lewandowski and Karol Swiderski pressed hard for an opener.
But it was Nigeria who struck first in the 23rd minute when Moses Simon teed up Moffi for a simple finish, confirmed by VAR after an initial offside ruling.
The hosts equalized just before halftime through Kacper Potulski, who scrambled home from a corner. Nigeria regained control in the second half, with debutant Abdullah Bewene impressing in midfield. His involvement led to a penalty in the 76th minute, converted coolly by Onuachu.
Poland, however, refused to yield. With eight minutes left, Maduka Okoye denied a dangerous free-kick, but Przemyslaw Wiśniewski’s thunderous 25-yard strike in the dying minutes salvaged a draw for the home side.
Nigeria now turn their attention to another high-profile friendly against Portugal in Leiria next Wednesday, which will serve as the final warm-up for the Seleção ahead of the FIFA World Cup finals.
