Oghenebrume sets new 60m and 200m lifetime bests again
Onojuvwevwo splits 51.16 in the 4x400m relay
It was another personal record setting weekend for sprinter Godson Oke Oghenebrume after the Nigerian rewrote his 60m and 200m personal bests for the second straight week.
The 19 year old came to the Tyson Invitational in Fayeteville, Arkansas with a 6.69 and 21.28 lifetime bests in the 60m and 200m respectively but left with new records that moved him closer to joining the iconic list of 6.5 and 20.0 Nigerian runners in the respective events.
Oghenebrume opened her Tyson Invitational campaign by equalling the 6.69 60 PB he set a week earlier at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
In the final he came close to becoming the 13th Nigerian to run inside 6.60 with the clock stopping at 6.60 for the talented Nigerian.
In the 200m, Oghenebrume moved a step closer to becoming the 12th Nigerian to break 21 seconds after returning 21.12 to place second at the meeting.
Meanwhile, 400m runner, Ella Onujuvwevwo was the star of her school, Louisiana State University women’s 4x400m team that ran 3:33.38 to place fifth at the Tyson Invitational meeting.
The 17 year old led the way with a split of 51.16 seconds in the third leg.
This was 24 hours after running 53.37 in the individual 400m.
Favour Ofili was also in the relay team minutes after running a new 22.36 lifetime best and world lead in the 200m.
